A NEW ERA FOR THE DHL STORMERS BEGINS

The DHL Stormers kick off a new era this month with a blockbuster clash against defending URC champions Leinster.

The United Rugby Championship opener versus the Irish side on 26 September 2025 will be the first competitive match since the Stormers launched its new brand identity.

With a new logo, a refreshed kit and some new recruits in the squad, the Stormers will be looking to make a bold statement in front of the Faithful.

According to Director of Rugby John Dobson, the new identity goes together with the team’s mission to make Cape Town smile.

“This team is one of the best-supported in the world. We have some of the most vibrant rugby communities and no shortage of passion at every level,” says Dobson.

“This is a big step forward in many ways as we take the DHL Stormers from being a rugby team to so much more. We are ‘in it together’ with everyone who is coming on this exciting new journey with us.”

Dobson’s side holds a 3–1 record over Leinster in their last five URC encounters. In the last encounter in Cape Town in 2024, the Stormers won the game by 30 points.

With the Stormers’ blistering attack and Leinster’s tactical precision, the URC opener will deliver a thriller.

Tickets for the game are available through Ticketmaster from R130.

Mzantsi URC derbies

Between the URC and the Investec Champions Cup, the Stormers are set for 9 home games in front of the Faithful at DHL Stadium.

This includes a home leg featuring thrilling local derbies against the Emirates Lions, the Vodacom Bulls and the Hollywoodbets Sharks.

After hosting Leinster, the Stormers will take on Ospreys at DHL Stadium on 3 October before embarking on a nine-week European tour.

They return to South Africa for a Champions Cup clash against Stade Rochelais at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on 13 December, before heading back to Cape Town.

The year closes out with a clash against the Emirates Lions on 20 December — an all-SA derby where bragging rights are just as important as points.

The Stormers hold the edge with a 4–1 record since 2022 including a 19-point victory against the Gauteng side at DHL Stadium last summer.

To start the new year, the 2022 URC Champions will reignite the legendary North-South Derby against the Vodacom Bulls on 3 January, a fixture steeped in history and union pride.

When Cape Town meets Pretoria, it’s legacy vs legacy, a rivalry that has produced some of the URC’s most iconic battles.

The January home stretch wraps with another blockbuster derby, this time a coastal showdown against the Hollywoodbets Sharks on 24 January.

With big-name Boks like Siya Kolisi, Eben Etzebeth and Bongi Mbonambi returning to Cape Town colours of black and white, and the Stormers boasting a dominant home record over their Durban rivals, it’s a fixture guaranteed to deliver fireworks.

From Lions to Bulls to Sharks, the Stormers’ Summer Series is a run of derbies that promises top rugby action, intensity, and fierce competition for the SA Shield.

Tickets for all Stormers home games are available at Ticketmaster.
