BETWAY SA20 FINAL HEADS TO CAPE TOWN IN 2027
The Betway SA20 will once again host its spectacular finale in the Mother City.
Newlands Cricket Ground will host the SA20 Final for a second year in a row on Sunday 21 February 2027.
The Sunrisers Eastern Cape were crowned champions for a third time in front of a sold out crowd in Cape Town in earlier this year, defeating the Pretoria Capitals.
“The Newlands Faithful have been fantastic hosts for our Final in recent years, and we’re grateful to the City of Cape Town for their support as we return to Newlands once again. We’re excited for fans in all six of our host cities to be part of the season,” says Betway SA20 League Commissioner Graeme Smith.
The most beautiful cricket ground in the world will crown the season 5 winners under the shadow of Table Mountain.
“Cape Town is proud to once again host the Betway SA20 Final, and to do so as our city gears up for an extraordinary year of cricket,” says Cape Town Mayor, Geordin Hill-Lewis.
“The League has become an anticipated fixture on our sporting and cultural calendar and hosting this Final in the same year we welcome the world for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup shows exactly why Cape Town is one of the great cricketing cities. We look forward to giving players, fans and visitors from around the world the warmest welcome when the Final comes to Newlands.”
MI Cape Town in action for season 5
In addition to the Betway SA20 final, Newlands will host five of MI Cape Town home games including a season opener against the Joburg Super Kings on Wednesday 20 January 2026.
The local franchise will follow that up with an exciting Cape Derby at home against the Paarl Royals on Friday 22 January 2026.
MI Cape Town will then host back-to-back home fixtures against 2024 finalists Durban’s Super Giants on Tuesday 2 February and defending champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape on Thursday 4 February 2026.
Season 5 of the Betway SA20 gets underway on 17 January in Gqeberha with a repeat of last season’s final between Sunrisers and Pretoria Capital.
Tickets for all SA20 games will go on sale soon. Fans can register for the pre-sale window to secure the best seats to watch their favourite franchise.
Tickets for the Playoffs and the Final will also be available in the pre-sale.
