CAPE TOWN’S APRIL EVENTS CALENDAR
From Africa’s leading travel exhibition to the world’s most beautiful marathon, the ultimate pop culture festival as well as football and rugby action, Cape Town’s April events calendar has something for every kind of event enthusiast.
The Waterfront Canal Challenge will have some of the best swimmers in the 1 600m and a 800m open water swimming session starting at Battery Park on Saturday, 6 April 2024.
The event takes place from 09:00 until 13:00. Those interested can enter the competition here.
The DHL Stormers will be looking to advance to the quarterfinals of the European Rugby Champions Cup when they meet defending champions La Rochelle at DHL Stadium on Saturday.

Spectators can take a free MyCiTi shuttle from the Civic Centre to the stadium.
The stadium will turn its attention to local football action on Sunday, 7 April when Cape Town City hosts KZN side AmaZulu at 15:00.

A MONTH OF EVENTS
In Mitchells Plain, the South Africa United Christmas Band’s Board is hosting the SA United Xmas Band Road March at the Westridge Gardens on Sunday, 7 April.
World Travel Market Africa returns from 10 – 12 April at the CTICC for its 10th anniversary edition.
WTM Africa brings together more than 7 000 delegates from over 100 countries, including tourism industry professionals, exhibitors, buyers and media, who are currently in Cape Town for three days of trade, networking and deal-making.

On Tuesday, 9 April, Athlone Stadium will host the DSTV Premiership clash between Cape Town Spurs and Mamelodi Sundowns.

Cape Town’s own music maestro Abdullah Ibrahim will bring a special homecoming performance to the iconic City Hall on 12 April as part of a series of landmark concerts in South Africa this month.
The historic event makes Ibrahim the first solo artist in history to perform such a concert, supported by his six-piece Ekaya band and with a specially created choir.

TWO OCEANS MARATHON
The Two Oceans Marathon will take over the Cape Peninsula for ultra marathon and half marathon on 13 and 14 April 2024, starting off in Newlands for a finish at UCT.
The 56km will follow a route worthy of the title “world’s most beautiful marathon” taking runners from Newlands to scenic glory in Muizenberg, St James, Kalk Bay, the famed Chapman’s Peak and Constantia before finishing under the shadow of Table Mountain at UCT.
The 21.1km runners will also start in Newlands traversing a route that will take them through Claremont, Kenilworth, Wynberg, and Constantia before finish off at UCT’s rugby field.
Spectators have the opportunity to cheer on the runners at the finish which will be situated at UCT’s rugby field on both days.
