CAPE TOWN SET FOR A SIZZLING SUMMER OF BETWAY SA20 ACTION
Cape Town is in for a summer of fireworks as MI Cape Town prepares to defend its Betway SA20 title.
The SA20 has officially unveiled the 34-match schedule for its fourth edition, serving up a festive feast for cricket fans and sports lovers alike.
With the Proteas touring overseas this summer, Newlands Cricket Ground will remain a hive of action. MI Cape Town was unbeaten at home in Season 3, winning all five of their matches at the iconic venue under the mountain.
Season 4 kicks off with a blockbuster Boxing Day opener on 26 December 2025, as the defending champions host Durban’s Super Giants at Newlands.
The titleholders will usher in 2026 with a New Year’s Eve clash against Pretoria Capitals in the shadow of Table Mountain.
Then comes the eagerly awaited Cape Derby against the Paarl Royals on Tweede Nuwe Jaar—a showdown down the N1 on 2 January.
A back-to-back home stretch follows that: the return leg of the Derby on 4 January and a face-off with the Joburg Super Kings on 6 January.
MI Cape Town will close out the regular season with a tantalising rematch of the 2025 final against Sunrisers Eastern Cape—first at home on 16 January, and then away in Gqeberha on 18 January.
Another Thrilling Season Awaits
South Africa’s premier franchise T20 competition is gearing up for another unforgettable season. Season 3 smashed records across the board, with historic broadcast numbers and packed stadiums around the country.
“Season 4 of Betway SA20 will be unique,” says League Commissioner Graeme Smith.
“Announcing the fixtures is always a major milestone for us and signals that we are well on our way to another incredible season.
“The franchises are hard at work behind the scenes strategising around their squads which will be confirmed at the auction on 9 September. It’s all systems go to welcome the best international and local players to our stage.”
The Betway SA20 Auction, taking place in Johannesburg, will see at least 72 player slots up for grabs, making it one of the most high-stakes auctions on the global T20 calendar.
Once the squads are confirmed, ticket sales will open, and demand is expected to be sky-high, especially for games at Newlands. Fans are urged to register early for the pre-sale window to secure the best seats in the house.
