Cape Town’s choral tradition takes centre stage as the Cape Malay Choir Board’s Annual Choral Competition returns for its Sectional rounds.

For three nights, choirs from across the Cape Malay community step up to compete in the categories that define this beloved art form, all in pursuit of points, pride, and a place among the season’s top contenders.

With over 3000 active members representing more than 12 communities, the Cape Malay Choir Board carries forward a heritage of song dating back to the 1600s, when Eastern melodies met Western harmonies to create a musical tradition unlike any other.
