Encounters South African International Documentary Festival

Now in its 28th year, Encounters stands as Africa’s leading documentary film festival.

Annually drawing approximately 10,000 attendees to Cape Town and Johannesburg, this 10-day event is a showcase of exceptional documentary films from South Africa and around the world.

Encounters is dedicated to the documentary genre, focusing on critical community and societal issues spanning health, culture and politics.

The festival serves as a vibrant lens, highlighting global diversities, connections, challenges and potential solutions.
