Lipton Challenge Cup

The prestigious Lipton Challenge Cup returns to the shores of Cape Town for a celebration of maritime excellence and community spirit.

This year the historic regatta is back for it’s 71st edition and draws over 20 coastal sailing clubs from Cape Town, False Bay, Simon’s Town, Hermanus, Saldanha Bay, Gqeberha, and Kwa-Zulu Natal among others.

The local favourite Royal Cape Yacht Club, with the most wins of any club within South Africa, is the reigning champions and host for 2025.

This year also marks a bold new chapter with the introduction of the J22 class, opening the doors to include more clubs, more sailors, and a more accessible and competitive one-design racing experience. It offers opportunities for sailing academies and recognised School Yacht Clubs to be represented in the challenge.
