Cape Town’s beloved Maynardville Open-Air Festival returns In Full Swing – a celebration of rhythm, revelry, and renowned performance under the stars. This season we dive headfirst into the golden age of jazz, with a concert series that grooves from Sunday swing sessions to sultry summer nights alive with drama, music, and dance.

At the heart of the festival is our signature al fresco production of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, set in mid-20th century Italy and pulsing with Fellini-inspired flair. With a brand-new original score by the celebrated Wessel Odendaal, this whimsical comedy full of mistaken identity, love, and longing finds fresh rhythm in its jazz-infused setting.

Our stage spotlights the full spectrum of South African talent. From community gems like the Paul Roos Orchestra, internationally renowned ensembles like the Charl du Plessis Trio to the nation’s most esteemed institutions, including the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra and Cape Town Opera. We’re also thrilled to reintroduce dance to the Maynardville stage, with performances by Cape Town City Ballet and a debut season of Cape Ballet Africa.
