SVNS LOCKED IN CAPE TOWN UNTIL 2027
The biggest party in town, the HSBC SVNS Cape Town, is staying in the Mother City for three more years.
World Rugby confirmed Cape Town, along with five other destinations, as a host city for the HSBC SVNS 2026 Series.
The upcoming tournament, taking place on 6–7 December 2025 at DHL Stadium, will see the Blitzboks defend their HSBC SVNS Cape Town title on home soil.
The Olympic Bronze Medallists will also be looking to retain their HSBC SVNS World Champions crown in 2026.
Cape Town has been home to the Sevens Series for the past decade, and World Rugby has confirmed the Mother City will retain hosting rights until 2027.
“We’re very excited to announce the return of HSBC SVNS to Cape Town for the next three years,” says SA Rugby CEO Rian Oberholzer.
“With the new tournament model, we envisage high-octane rugby from all the teams from the get-go, with no place to hide as only the top two teams in the respective pools will progress to the semi-finals.”
A celebration at DHL Stadium
The Blitzboks will be joined by seven other men’s and eight women’s teams in the revamped series format, which leaves no room for error as sides battle for top honours.
“It’ll be two action-packed days, but we know this event is about more than the rugby. Fans will also experience the vibrant live entertainment and the unique festival atmosphere that makes the HSBC SVNS in Cape Town one of the best live events in the country.
“It’s the ultimate blend of sport and lifestyle. From edge-of-your-seat matches on the field to music, food, and culture, it’s more than a tournament – it’s a celebration.”
Over the past nine editions, SVNS Cape Town has become more than just a rugby event. It has evolved into a festival that combines sport, music, and entertainment for an all-round unforgettable experience.
Alongside the rugby and live music, fans can expect high-energy performances, from acrobatic motorcycles to dancers and more.
