KKKA COMPETITION DRAWS CURTAIN ON MEMORABLE KLOPSE SEASON

The final note is about to sound. The last drumbeat is ready to echo. The Kaapse Klopse season is preparing for a showstopping finale.

The Kaapse Klopse Karnival Association (KKKA) is set to close the curtain on a spectacular and unforgettable cultural season. It will bring weeks of music, colour and community pride to a powerful climax this week.

KKKA will host the final day of its annual competitions at Athlone Stadium on Saturday 7 February 2026. This will be a grand finale expected to deliver emotion, excellence and electric Klopse gees.

This season has already delivered landmark moments, including a triumphant Cape Town Street Parade (Tweede Nuwe Jaar). More than 20 000 performers transformed the streets into a moving celebration of heritage, rhythm and identity.

The momentum carried into the opening competition showcase at DHL Stadium in January. This set the tone for what has become one of the most memorable Klopse seasons in recent years.

For the past five weeks, Athlone has been the heartbeat of the competition calendar, as troupes pushed boundaries in the choral sections, precision marching and signature performance categories — each appearance raising the bar higher.

“This season has really delivered. The troupes came prepared, focused and hungry to perform. You could hear it in the harmonies and see it in the precision. The growth we’ve witnessed so far shows how strong the Klopse movement is right now,” says KKKA’s Muneeb Gambeno.

Klopse magic for TV Stars

Heideveld’s TV Stars, who were lauded for producing performances at the highest level, were crowned section 1 champions last week.

This after the competition groups delivered a breathtaking showcase of talent, discipline and cultural pride.

From deeply emotional sentimental items to crowd-roaring moppies, the stadium pulsed with energy from start to finish.

They kept the crowed at Athlone Stadium in thralled in what was an explosion of colour, rhythm and unmistakable Klopse spirit.

The grand finale awaits

The season will reach its grand finale on Saturday when the section 2 troupe winner will be announced. The overall champions of the season will be announced as well. This will mark the culmination of months of preparation, sacrifice, passion and proud Klopse tradition.

TV Stars will take their victory klopse to Athlone Stadium on Saturday showcasing to the crowd once again why they were crowned Kings of the Carnival.

With the music still echoing and the memories still dancing through communities, the spirit of the Klopse will live on.

Proceedings at Athlone Stadium will start at 11:oo. Tickets are available through Computicket.
