Red Bull King of the Air is one of the events scheduled to take place this November in Cape Town

EVENTS IN CAPE TOWN THIS NOVEMBER


November is the month of extreme sports, daring mountain trail runs and gastronomy.

Any many as 166 event organisers have applied for permits this month.

Cape Town has already hosted Killarney Motor Show, Wines2Whales, Liefde by die Dam and Earthshot Week which included the  star-studded Earthshot Prize Awards in the Green Point Precinct.

This week, the Mother City is set for an action-packed thrill ride on two wheels with Freestyle Kings, taking place at the DHL Stadium on Saturday, 9 November 2024.

Featuring some of the world’s top extreme sports athletes, Freestyle Kings offers two hours of action-packed stunts, unmatched acrobatic skills and gravity-defying feats from some of the greatest FMX and BMX riders.

The event runs from 18:00 until 20:00. Tickets are available from freestylekings.com

From 8 – 30 November, the Cape Malay Choir Board will host its annual choral competitions, which also forms part of the organisation’s 85th anniversary.

City Hall will host the sections stage from Friday, 8 November to Sunday, 10 November 2024.

The choral finale will be hosted over two days at the CTICC on 16 and 17 November before the Grand Finale takes place at Athlone Stadium on 30 November.

CAPE TOWN DISABLED GOLF OPEN


This Disability Rights Awareness month, the fourth Cape Town Disabled Open takes place at King David Mowbray Golf Club on 17 and 18 November 2024.

Around 60 disabled golfers will compete in three classes over two days.

Two-time champion David Watts will be back vying for this third consecutive title in the Physically Disabled Gross Division.

A premier event on South Africa’s disabled golf calendar, the tournament showcases the talent and determination of golfers with disabilities from around the world.

It also highlights the skill of the players, while promoting inclusivity and growth within the sport.

RED BULL KING OF THE AIR


The world’s best kiteboarders will take to the skies for Red Bull King of the Air’s return to Kite Beach on the windiest day between 23 November and 8 December.

For the first time in the event’s history, the programme includes an official women’s division, bringing a deeper level of inclusivity to the King of the Air and celebrating the sport’s growth.

With their gravity-defying tricks, riders will show off their style, the height of their jumps, and their most insane tricks in the ferocious Cape Town winds.

Red Bull King of the Air is a free event for spectators and will take place at Kite Beach in Blouberg.

ITALY IN TOWN

In partnership with the City of Cape Town, the Italian Consulate will host the inaugural Italy in Town festival in Green Point.

Taking place on 23 and 24 November at the Cape Quarter in De Waterkant, the festival aims to bring an authentic Italian experience to the broader Cape Town public.

The festival features two days of music, culture, cooking labs and wine tastings, with attractions for the whole family on offer to ticket holders. In addition to the numerous market stands offering artisanal and authentic gastronomic products, visitors will be entertained by music performances and widespread activities.

RMB ULTRA-TRAIL CAPE TOWN


Ultra Trail Cape Town takes trail runners on a dramatic journey across the Table Mountain National Park chain, beautiful beaches and wild greenbelts. 

Choosing between the 160km (100 miler), 100km, 55km, 35km or the 23km, athletes traverse unique trails  with scents and descents on one of the new 7 wonders of Nature

From  22 – 24 November, some of the world’s top trail runners will be taking on some of the most rugged terrain and soaking in the incredibly breathtaking views for the 10th UTCT.

Starting from the Gardens Rugby Club, the race routes stretch from the Atlantic Seaboard across the Cape Peninsular into Constantia and as far out as Simon’s Town.

THE CAPE TOWN BEVERAGE SHOW


Interactive demonstrations, DIY cocktail classes, thrilling cocktail competitions and a captivating wine walk awaits you. 

The fourth edition of the Cape Town Beverage Show takes place from the 22 – 24 November 2024 at the CTICC 2.

From the effervescence of champagne to the robust depths of craft beer, immerse yourself in a world where every sip tells a story.

You can also visit the heart of brandy excellence at the SA Brandy Foundation Centre, savour coffee and non-alcoholic drinks, and explore the diverse world of craft beverages.

The Cape Town Beverage Show will take place from 11:00 – 20:00.

TORPEDO SWIMRUN CAPE TOWN


Around 1 000 athletes take on Africa’s coolest SwimRun on one of Cape Town’s most picturesque coastlines on 30 November 2024.   

Setting off from Sandy Bay, they will run and swim across 16km of beach and ocean in Llandudno, Oudekraal, and Camp’s Bay before finishing at Clifton 4th.  

The eight edition of Torpedo SwimRun is attracting some of the world’s top athletes including South African open water swimmer Lee-Ann Elliot as well as the SwimRun world champions from France and Sweden.

The SwimRun also serves as a wonderful showcase for the Mother City’s iconic coastline and natural beauty.

 

MITCHELLS PLAIN FESTIVAL

DStv KykNET Mitchells Plain Festival, one of the country’s most popular community events, will close off November with three days of music, food, open-air fun and thrilling carnival rides at Westridge Gardens.

With an exciting lineup including Ziggy4x, Ricky Vani Frontline, Team Kenni, Jarrad Ricketts, The Rockets New Generation, Vuvu Kumalo and the Mitchells Plain Music Academy, the festival offers something for all musical tastes.

The Mitchells Plain Festival takes place from 29 November until 1 December 2024.
