SUMMER OF CRICKET IN CAPE TOWN
An exciting summer of cricket is set to hit Cape Town, with the Proteas, Proteas Women, and the Betway SA20 headed to the Mother City.
It will be a season of big matches and bigger moments at Newlands Cricket Ground. Cape Town has been a good hunting ground for both the Proteas Men and Proteas Women in recent years.
The Proteas Men have won six of their last eight Test matches at Newlands and the Proteas Women have claimed three wins in their last five matches at the venue.
Proteas Men vs Australia
The Mother City’s international cricket calendar kicks off in October when the Proteas Men take on long-time rivals Australia in test action.
The reigning ICC World Test Champions will also begin defence of their WTC title.
And it doesn’t get much bigger than a battle against the Aussies for five days of red ball action that will deliver high-stakes test cricket, drama and intrigue.

Newlands Cricket Ground hosts the 3rd and final match of the Australia Tour from 27 – 31 October 2026.
Proteas Men vs Bangladesh
The iconic venue, under the shadow of Table Mountain, will switch to One Day International action in December when the Bangladesh cricket team comes to town.
The Proteas will take on the Tigers in a blockbuster Day/Night encounter with the action unfolding under lights in a classic white-ball showdown.
Newlands hosts the third ODI in the three-match series 7 December 2026.
With the match being the final match in the series, expect a high-tempo contest as both sides look to close out strong.
Proteas Women vs India
The Mother City will host last match of the three-game ODI series between the Proteas Women and the visiting India women’s national cricket team.
This Day/Night encounter has the potential for intensity and big moments, with fireworks almost guaranteed whenever these two sides meet.
Led by their talismanic captain Lara Wolvaardt, the Proteas Women have dominated recent white ball matches between the teams and will be eager to continue that momentum.
The final ODI series fixture has an added edge for the Proteas who had heartbreak in the 2025 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Final against India.
Newlands will once again delivers a matchday experience punctuated by exciting white ball cricket, a vibrant atmosphere under the lights, and the unmistakable Cape Town gees.
New Year’s Test
The traditional New Year’s Test returns to the Mother City with another colossal international showdown between Proteas Men and England.
The two titans of international test cricket will go head-to-head at Newlands Cricket Ground from 3 – 7 January 2027.

Newlands will once again become the centre of the cricketing world for one of the biggest fixtures in test cricket. The Proteas will be aiming to keep Newlands a fortress, having won six of their last eight Test matches at the venue.

In addition to international cricket action, the Betway SA20 is confirmed to return for its fifth season early in 2027. Details regarding fixtures and pre-event activities for Season 5 will be announced in due course.
MI Cape Town will be hoping to continue its record-breaking feats by selling out all its home fixtures while also aiming to reclaim the title the franchise won in 2025.
