EXPERIENCE THE BIGGEST PARTY IN TOWN

Tyler ICU and Kamo Mphela, two of the country’s biggest Amapiano artists, are headlining the HSBC Cape Town SVNS – the biggest party in town.

The pair and DJ Ready D, Roger Goode, Neon Dreams and Gremlin are set to light up the rugby festival on 7 and 8 December 2024.

Amapiano will take centre stage in a major way at the 2024 Cape Town SVNS.

The Cape Town SVNS will attempt to break the world record attempt for the largest-ever Amapiano dance-off at a rugby match.

Led by the two-time world hip-hop champions, Cape Town’s own Street Stylers, fans are invited to dress up and participate in the “Amapiano #NoDNA JustRSA” dance on Sunday, 8 December 2024.

The group has hosted public workshops throughout the city over the last month to teach fans the dance ahead of the world record attempt.

Over the past nine years, the Cape Town SVNS has proven to be more than just a rugby tournament. It has become a vibrant festival celebrating sports, music and an all-round good time.

In addition to the music performances, the festival has lined up other performances including acrobatic motorcycles, dancers and more.

BLITZBOK
REDEMPTION

On the rugby field, 12 men’s and 12 women’s teams will be going all out for the chance to be crowned Cape Town SVNS champions.

The Australia women’s team and Fiji men come into the tournament as series leaders after claiming gold at the opening round in Dubai last weekend.

But all eyes will be on the home team Blitzboks who will be looking to lift their first sevens trophy in Cape Town since 2016.

The Olympic bronze medalists are playing their first game at 11:44 on Saturday against Ireland and will be closing the show for the day with a mouth-watering clash against Argentina at 18:41.

With a new format in place, the Blitzboks will have no room for mistakes.

The prospect of playing in front of a home crowd for the first time is a special motivator for Donavan Don.

“We must make sure they are rewarded for coming out to support the team,” says Don.

The speedster from Velddrif is eager for the team to put behind the tough showing in Dubai.

“We are disappointed with our placing in Dubai, but I know we can improve this weekend. The time spent together on tour was great for us as a squad and we bonded nicely. We will be playing for each other this weekend and such for the country as well.”

Blitzboks stalwart Dewald Human believes missing out on a sixth consecutive Dubai SVNS title might be a blessing in disguise.

“The pressure is not coming with us from Dubai, so we can focus squarely on getting the job done at home. We have not used the amazing support we get from this Cape Town crowd to our benefit and will be looking to change that this year.”

Gates for the two-day tournament open at 08:00, with the first game scheduled to kick off at 09:00.

GETTING TO DHL STADIUM

Gates at DHL Stadium will open at 08:00 with the first game scheduled to kick off at 09:00.

Cape Town SVNS ticket holders can get on a bus for free from the Civic Centre, Thibault Square and CTICC.

Those making use of the bus can find parking at the CTICC (paid parking), the Civic Centre and on-street parking.
