NEWLANDS TO HOST BETWAY SA20 FINAL
Cape Town’s iconic Newlands Cricket Ground is set to host Betway SA20 Season 4 Final.
The home of MI Cape Town has been confirmed as the host venue for the final on 25 January 2026, cementing its status as one of the premier stages for cricket.
“Last year Newlands sold out all five matches at the venue and with the Final taking place on a Sunday, it sets up an incredible afternoon with great weather, entertainment and a lively atmosphere to crown our Season 4 Champions,” says SA20 Commissioner Graeme Smith.
Cape Town hosted a sold out final in 2024, where the Sunrisers Eastern Cape were crowned season 2 champions.
Newlands set for another full house
Newlands Cricket Ground will kick off season 4 hosting a blockbuster Boxing Day opener with defending champions MI Cape Town taking on Durban’s Super Giants.
The titleholders will usher in 2026 with a New Year’s Eve clash against Pretoria Capitals under the shadow of Table Mountain.
If last season’s figures are anything to go by, Newlands along with the five other host venues are once again tipped to deliver sold out games with electric atmospheres throughout the league run.
“Betway SA20 Season 4 is shaping up to be an incredibly exciting summer of cricket, kicking off on Boxing Day and running through the holiday period,” Smith says.
A Festival of Cricket Awaits
In an effort to create a balanced and fan-friendly build-up, the playoffs will be contested inland and on the coast.
In a first for the competition, Durban’s Kingsmead will host a Playoff clash when the top two teams meet in Qualifier 1 on Wednesday, 21 January. The winner will book a direct ticket to Cape Town for the Final, while the loser gets another chance at redemption later in the week.
The Playoffs then shift inland, with Centurion staging the Eliminator on Thursday, 22 January, where the third- and fourth-placed teams will fight to keep their title hopes alive.
The action continues at the Wanderers in Johannesburg the following night, Friday, 23 January, with Qualifier 2 deciding who will face off at Newlands for the championship.
Tickets to all group stage matches as well as the Playoffs and Final will be available during the pre-sale window, which will open on 17 September and close on 9 October.
